(Washington, D.C.) – Earlier today, the International Trade Commission voted unanimously to throw out an antidumping case against imports of titanium sponge from Japan and Kazakhstan, resulting in a rare preliminary stage negative determination. A team from Akin Gump represented Toho Titanium Corporation, a Japanese titanium sponge producer, in the proceedings.  The negative preliminary determination will terminate both the injury portion of the investigation at the International Trade Commission as well as the dumping portion of the investigation at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Akin Gump team was led by international trade partner Stephen Kho and included partner Bernd Janzen, senior counsel Margaret Chisholm Marsh and associates Yujin Kim McNamara and Shana Hofstetter.

Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
