Privacy & Cybersecurity Law Report has published the article “Further Tension Between National Security and Protecting Privacy: Latest EU Judgments.” The article, written by Akin Gump partners Natasha Kohne and Michelle Reed, co-heads of the firm’s cybersecurity, privacy and data protection practice; counsel Jenny Arlington; and associates Rachel Kurzweil, Jay Jamooji and Sahar Abas, was first published as an Akin Gump client alert.

The article examines a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union on whether national security laws in the United Kingdom, France and Belgium were “compatible with EU privacy, data protection, and fundamental rights principles.” The authors explain both the decision as well as its implications.
