Remi Mehner assists clients on a range of regulatory, enforcement and policy matters within the health care and food and beverage sector. She focuses on regulatory, compliance and transactional matters related to food and drug law, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, and privacy and data security. Remi also counsels clients on matters involving fraud and abuse laws, including the federal False Claims Act, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute.
While in law school, Remi served on the Executive Board for the Harvard Immigration Project, where she assisted individuals in deportation proceedings, and served on the Executive Board of the Harvard African Law Association. In 2018, she was the recipient of Akin's Robert S. Strauss Scholarship.
Prior to attending law school, Remi served as a bio intern for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she worked on research analyzing natural greenhouse gas emissions in farming.
Remi earned a B.A. in psychology with honors and government from Wesleyan University.
- Advises private equity sponsors and food and beverage portfolio companies on the regulatory and policy implications of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative and updates to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, including compliance risk assessment and anticipated shifts in federal oversight.
- Advised Paine Schwartz Partners–backed HGS BioScience by conducting FDA and USDA regulatory diligence in connection with its acquisitions of Pharmgrade, an Idaho‑based innovator in microbial consortium products, and NutriAg Ltd., a Toronto‑based company specializing in bionutritional technologies.
- Counseled major global trading company on seafood import compliance matters, including FDA detention issues and regulatory requirements for admissibility.
