Alexander focuses his practice on antitrust litigation and counseling. Alexander regularly represents clients in high-stakes, bet-the-company cases. He has extensive experience managing all phases of litigation, from initial filing to final disposition and appeal.
Alexander also guides clients through all phases of merger reviews and investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Prior to joining Akin, Alexander was an associate in the litigation group of another global law firm. Previously, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard L. Young of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He began his legal career as a litigation associate at a law firm in Indiana, where he focused on commercial litigation.
Litigation
- Defending a mortgage lender in a putative class action alleging algorithmic price fixing and illegal information sharing claims under Section 1 of the Sherman Act.
- Defending a pharmaceutical company in an antitrust dispute involving Section 1 tying and Section 2 monopolization claims under the Sherman Act.
- Advising a multinational conglomerate in an antitrust dispute involving claims under Section 1 and Section 2 of the Sherman Act arising from mining operations.
- Defended a real estate franchise company against multiple class action antitrust challenges to industry commissions practices.
- Defended a national consumer electronics retailer in class actions alleging violation of federal consumer protection laws.
- Defended a national manufacturer of dietary supplements in class actions alleging violations of state consumer protection laws.
- Defended a San Francisco-based venture capital firm and board designee in defense of derivative action arising out of sale of the company.
- Defended a government agency in multiple class actions challenging the constitutionality of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
