JP is a U.S. qualified attorney in Akin’s white collar investigations & trade compliance team in the Middle East. Based in Akin’s Dubai office, JP represents industry-diverse clients in white collar investigations and trade compliance matters, including matters before U.S. agencies. JP is particularly experienced in advising on the extraterritorial applicability of U.S. regulations, with an emphasis on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), anti-money laundering (AML), economic sanctions and export controls. 

In addition, JP has extensive compliance counselling experience related to the FCPA, economic sanctions (with a particular emphasis on sanctions relating to Russia and Iran) & export controls, including designing compliance programs and conducting training, in English, French and Arabic.

Prior to joining Akin, JP worked as an attorney at two other international law firms in Washington, D.C. and Dubai, where he represented and advised clients in cross-border white collar defense & investigations, commercial disputes and regulatory compliance matters.
