Léa Defranchi is a civil law trained attorney who focuses on international arbitration and dispute resolution. Léa works across Akin Gump offices primarily on complex construction and infrastructure disputes.  Léa has acted on arbitrations conducted under the major arbitration rules including SIAC, SCC, ICC and DIAC and seated in Switzerland, Sweden and the Middle East.

Representative Work

  • Advising major Russian Oil Company in disputes arising out of an Engineering and Procurement Contract in the CIS. Issues include liquidated damages; delay claims and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Advised a U.S. independent upstream oil and gas company in disputes arising out of a Production Sharing Contract in the CIS.
  • Advised joint venture employer in a mediation under the ICC Rules arising out of a delayed building contract in Russia. Issues included significant delay claims and financing difficulties.
